Burgers, fries, shakes and tweets were the de rigueur Monday afternoon as some of Tampa Bay's most influential social media mavens enjoyed a tasting menu provided by Burger 21.
The "Slide into Summer" burger event was a way to introduce the community to Burger 21's new slider menu. Several of the restaurant's favorites including the Bacon Cheddar burger, BLT Turkey burger and Black & Bleu burger were served as smaller sliders to those in attendance.
Attendees of the "VIB event" (Very Important Bloggers) tasted from the menu and sent out their opinions, pictures and musings via social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.
"We thought this was a great way to introduce our new summer sliders," said Alisha dos Santos, communications manager for Front Burner Brands, Burger 21's parent company.
A variety of Burger 21's shakes were also sampled. The Strawberry Shortcake, Chocolate Peanut Butter and Ybor City Double Espresso (with chocolate covered espresso beans) were rated crowd favorites.
More than a dozen bloggers and writers from the social media community were on hand to sample the menu, including Carlos Eats, Miss Destructo, and Jeff Houck of The Stew. Westchase Patch was also an invited taster (which we thoroughly enjoyed!)
Burger 21 opened its first restaurant in Westchase last year. A new location is scheduled to open in Carrollwood in October.
"Variety," is what seperates Burger 21 from its competitors, said Burger 21's restaurant manager David Johnston.
The restaurant's menu features 21 burgers, with a different signature burger being featured each 21st of the month. For July, that signature burger will be a Memphis Pulled Pork burger, made with pulled pork and beef. Shake fans can look forward to an apple crumb milkshake made with real apple sauce.
