Law enforcement and fire officials discovered a grisly scene early Monday morning.

At about 1 a.m. the fire department responded to a call about a fire outside a home. Upon arriving, they found grass on fire and a charred body, according to said Nacole Revette, Hillsborough County Fire spokesperson.

The charred person was deceased and found at 7009 Hollowell Drive, just west of Westchase off Hanley Road.

The charred body is a male, however his identity has not been determined yet, said Debbie Carter, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.

"It appears there was a gas can in one residence that was on fire and the individual looks like he ran to a neighbor's house and collapsed on the front yard," Carter said.

The incident is under investigation, Carter said.
