Chemical-Free Salon Opens Spa
Renu Ultra Spa recently opened in the Citrus Park area and does not use toxic chemicals.
Clients who have come to love The Hair Studio's use of all natural and organic beauty products will be pleasantly surprised to learn the salon has now expanded into offering holistic and organic spa services.
This week, the salon expanded to include The Renu Ultra Spa. The salon - now known as The Renu Hair Studio and Ultra Spa - is located at 12020 Anderson Road.
The spa is an extension of owners Scott and Liann Thompson's vision for a beauty experience free of chemicals and toxins.
The couple opened their salon about four years ago after Scott had spent three decades in the high tech world including positions with Apple and Compaq.
"My wife has always been the artist," he said, referring to Liann who is a professional hair stylist and vegan.
After building up a good clientele of people who appreciated organic and chemical free hair products they decided to expand to spa services.
"We wanted to create a one stop shop for healthy and beauty," Scott said.
Now in addition to precision hair cutting with organic and fume free color, you can also receive a manicure, pedicure, facial, massage, infrared sauna, and a cutting edge hydration O2 Pod which is similar to a hyperbaric Oxygen chamber at the Renu spa.
By providing a membership service, the owners hope is to keep the spa affordable. There are three levels to chose from. All include a monthly choice of a manicure, pedicure, massage or facial with one or two specialty services such as the hydration pod or sauna. A contract is not required for membership.
"A lot of people never experience the benefits of massage and facial," Scott said. "We'd like to make that available to more people."

Among the highlights at the spa is the infrared sauna, which works by removing built up toxins.
"We weren't going to do tanning because it goes against our model and concept," Scott said. "We said we can give people that glow without the carcinogens."
In addition to being eco-conscious about beauty services, the salon and spa offer customers iPads and Samsung Galaxy pads instead of paper magazines.
"It's overall being responsible to our customers and community," said Nathan Warren, spa director for Renu.
