Christmas Tree Recycling: Where to Go
Hillsborough County offers a recycling program that keeps used trees out of landfills
Tired of having your halls decked?
Hillsborough County might have a solution that can help. No, county workers won’t un-deck your house and take down your lights, but they will take away your live Christmas tree and ensure it gets put to good use.
The solid waste management department is once again offering a Christmas tree recycling program, according to a media release. Through the program, live Christmas trees are recycled into mulch and are processed into other environmentally beneficial byproducts.
To take part, all you need to do is remove the tinsel and ornaments from your live tree and drop it off at one of the county's resource recovery facilities.
The closest self-delivery location to Westchase is the Northwest Resource Recovery Facility at 8001 W. Linebaugh Ave. It’s open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Only live trees are accepted for recycling at this time.
