Tropical Storm Debby isn’t doing a lot of moving in the Gulf of Mexico, but she does seem to have set her sights on a new target.
According to the most recent projected path of the storm, Debby should make landfall sometime between Thursday and Friday in the area between Sarasota and Levy counties. The National Hurricane Center has put the entire Tampa Bay area into its Tropical Storm Warning zone, including Pasco, Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee and Sarasota counties.
Flood and tornado watches also remain in effect for much of the Bay area, the National Weather Service wrote in its 11:30 a.m. update on the storm.
Watches are set when conditions are ripe for the formation of severe weather, such as tornados. A tropical storm warning means that "tropical storm conditions (sustained winds of 39 to 73 mph) are expected somewhere within the specified area within 36 hours," according to the weather service.
As Debby’s path continues to shift, the storm is dumping inches of water throughout the Tampa region. Street flooding and wind damage have been reported in numerous counties, including Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco, among others.

We live near 58th Street South and Tangerine Avenue South and have been monitoring our rainfall totals. From 8:00 a.m. Saturday (the 23rd) until 8:00 a.m. this morning (Monday, the 25th), a total of 48 hours, we've collected 18" of rain!!! When living in Philly before I came to Florida, I saw 18" of snow many, many times, but NEVER this many inches of rain. My yard is a mess and I'm just so glad I pulled in my plants to be under the patio.

In the downtown Palm Harbor area (but up the hill) and we have wind and I've seen the clouds. We didn't have excessive flooding yesterday and not too much debris.

Here in Forest Hills in NW Tampa we experienced a 2.5 hours power outage that ended last night by 11:20 p.m. Adams Middle School emergency lights worked while the power was out. We have a few small tree limbs down in our yard, overturned trash cans, a few flattened plants, yard debris that has blown in. During the heavy rain last night and while the street lights were out, numerous vehicles (large SVU's and trucks) repeatedly sped thru and plowed thru the water that had built-up curb side and "rooster-tailed" the water up past the sidewalk onto the parked vehicles in the yards along the Boulevard on our street. What is the point of that? Our yard is very wet and soggy so no watering is needed anytime this coming week. That should save the water violations police coming by checking to see who is watering their yards.

my husband is on his way there tonight. he should be there at 9:30 at Tampa Airport. Anyone have any ideas how he can get to Dunedin from the Airport without hitting closed roads?

HI Karen! I think the Courtney Campbell Causeway is open (although, the waves look fierce). U.S. 19 all the way to Dunedin should be fine also. I was driving on U.S. 19 today with no problems.

He can take Hillsborough Avenue, just north of the airport, and it becomes Tampa Road; he would drive up the west side on Eisenhower, take that to Memorial Parkway, and that leads to Tampa Rd).
I just took that route an hour ago, and Hillsborough/Tampa are fine.
He would cut off Tampa Rd onto SR 580, which takes him into north Dunedin.
The Courtney Campbell was passable, as I took it on my way to the airport, but spray was coving over the road, and I don't know the time of high tide, so I did the alternate route described above.
