YMCA Pool Now Open Year Round; Neighborhood Pool Hours Change
The fall season means changes to the aquatics schedule at nearby pools.
The Northwest YMCA pool used to close the same weekend as Thanksgiving. Now it looks like folks will be able to swim off the pounds from dinner this year.
The YMCA, located at 8950 W. Waters Ave., will now remain open year round.
"This will be our first time being open all winter," said Marilyn Gyselinck, director of development for the Northwest YMCA. "We've always wanted to do this."
Gyselinck said patrons have been requesting extended hours for years. Funding for it was recently approved.
The YMCA's fall aquatics schedule is as follows:
Monday-Friday 5:45 a.m.-noon; 4-8 p.m. On Friday the pool will close at 7 p.m. Saturday is 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.; Sunday is 1-4 p.m.
For Westchase residents who use the neighborhood pools, the hours won't change at the Swim and Tennis Center located at 10405 Countryway Blvd. It will remain open 7 days a week from 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m.
However, The Village Pool, located at 10053 Parley Drive, is now open on weekends until the last week of October. The pool will then close while geothermal equipment is installed and then re-open for the weekends during January and February. It will resume full-time hours in March. Both pools are heated.
