A man from the Westchase area is dead and an Odessa woman hospitalized following a crash on Sheldon Road this morning.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Omar Sullivan, 79, was exiting the Sheldon West Club retirement center around 9:47 a.m., attempting to cross southbound Sheldon Road. As he pulled out, Sullivan’s Ford Crown Victoria crossed into the path of a southbound Hyundai Sonata driven by Samantha Rao, 25, of Odessa.

The Hyundai struck the driver’s door of Sullivan’s car. Sullivan died at the scene. Roa was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
