Support Autism Awareness with a Surf Shack Margarita this Month
Each week "Cheers, Westchase!" helps you kick off your weekend, highlighting either a beer, cocktail or wine you can find right here in the neighborhood.
Since Surf Shack Coastal Kitchen opened last fall, it has been a favorite for Westchase residents for their fresh, California-inspired cuisine and weekly specials like "Kids Eat Free" Sundays. A couple of months after their opening date, the establishment was granted their liquor license, which meant one important thing... Finally, margaritas to accompany their delicious chips and homemade salsa!
The "Cheers, Westchase!" pick of the week is Surf Shack's Ocean Blue Margarita. The cast of characters in this refreshing beverage? Tequila, 100 percent agave nectar, fresh squeezed lime juice, Blue Curacao and a splash of sour mix.
And as if this refreshing cocktail could get any better, this month Surf Shack will donate $1 of every Ocean Blue Margarita sold to Jacob's Touch Foundation.
Founded by Tampa residents Howie and Kimmie Fine, the foundation is named after their young son Jacob, who has autism. This is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to raise money for local families who can't afford to pay for autism therapies, services and education.
Surf Shack owners Adam Harlan and brothers Jason, John and Jim Rehm, chose to support Jacob's Touch because they know the Fine family personally.
"Surf Shack is proud to stand behind this nonprofit organization," Harlan said. "It's a great charity that has become a strong advocate for families affected by autism in our community."
While Surf Shack offers an extensive menu of margaritas, we encourage you to give the Ocean Blue a try this month, and contribute to this important local cause.
