Instead of reaching for a cup of coffee or comfort food because you’re feeling sluggish, get your walk on. According to a recent study published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology, taking a walk outside and tuning into nature (and not your iPod) gives you a greater sense of vitality. Not only that, it helps your body become more resilient to physical illnesses.
A lot of people have less energy after lunch. So, why not grab a sandwich and go sit in the park? Have to work through your lunch? No problem, take a 20 minute break and get outside! Even day dreaming about your time spent outside can increase your feelings of happiness and health.
Bringing the outside in, may also boost energy levels. Be sure your office and home has live plants and that you have exposure to windows.
So next week when you get the blahs, go outside for a brisk walk, click the window shades or spend some time listening to the birds from your window. You’ll be glad you did!
