Westchase Dog Park Not on County's Agenda

We asked our readers to tell us what they'd change in the community. Now we're taking those suggestions and seeing what's possible and what's not in 2013.

Last week we asked our readers to tell us what they'd change about Westchase in 2013. We received several answers on the website and on our Westchase Patch Facebook Page.

For the next few weeks, we plan to look into some of those suggestions to see if they're possible or not.

First up is a response from Donna Gebhard Jinks who simply wrote:

"Add a dog park!"

Here's what Hillsborough County spokesman Steve Valdez had to say about it:

"Westchase is a planned community and as such the developer in their requirements provided land for such things as the fire station and the schools," Valdez said. "A dog park was never planned."

"We would have to buy property in order to do it," Valdez added. "It probably would be an issue better addresssed by the Westchase CDD. The county doesn't have the funding for that at this time. Of course anything can be considered or requested, but for right now it's just not on the drawing board."

Yes... a dog park is really a must in the Westchase area. Almost every family has a dog and poor dogs have to be on a leash all the time!

No,almost every family does NOT have a dog and their are reasons why dogs are required to be on leashes when outside of your home.A dog park is not a good idea and will not be welcomed in this neighborhood..You mention poor dogs, what happens to the poor child that gets bitten? That's the reason for leashes, and the deed restrictions, To protect the majority of non dog households!.
