Westchase Garage Sale: Neighborhood Hit or Hassle?
The Westchase Fall Garage Sale is Saturday October 6.
The semi-annual Westchase garage sale has quickly grown into one of the area's most heavily attended events. Every May and October droves of people inside and outside the community flock to the streets of Westchase to score deals and find treasures.
The next garage sale is scheduled for 8:00 a.m.-1:00p.m. on Saturday October 6.
Anyone can participate by simply setting up shop outside their homes. Some residents get into the spirit selling hot dogs and other snacks to hungry and thirsty shoppers.
But with those crowds often comes traffic. Several fender benders were reported after recent garage sales.
It begs the question: Is the Westchase Garage Sale a Hit or Hassle for the neighborhood? Leave Your Opinion In The Comments Section.

Tacky! Garage sales are not permitted in uspscale communities. Many Westchasee streets are so narrow only one car can pass at a time. Emergency vehicles have a hard time getting through. Why not donate old stuff to a charity. For those who buy racks of clothes to sell- go to a flea market instead of my block.

LOL the best time of the Year is when Westchase has their Garage Sales! Not only for the people in Westchase to be able to get rid of their unneeded stuff, but for the people outside the community to shop, get great deals and explore Westchase. Alot of times that is how Westchase gets it's NEW Neighbors by people falling in love with the community!

I totally agree...while Barnet has a valid comment on the emergency vehicles, that is something that can be remedied by establishing some basic traffic management (parking only on even or odd side, not on corners, and large trucks outside of the inner neighborhoods--a little walking is good for you, just take a wagon for the smaller stuff and go back later in the day to pick up the larger items you purchased during your walk)

Garage sales are part of Americana and are found in almost every community, even in upscale communities--they just restrict when, where, and how they're held. FYI - compared to the communities around where I lived in VA, Westchase is nice, but NOT upscale.
