Westchase Wine of the Week: Columbia Crest 2008 Grand Estates Cabernet

Every Thursday we bring you a Westchase wine proprietor's Pick of the Week. Each selection will be a bottle you can find here in the neighborhood for around $25

Columbia Crest 2008 Grand Estates Cabernet

Where can I buy it in Westchase? Catch Twenty-Three

Price: $8 / $29

Flavor notes/description:  Columbia Crest is a Washington state vineyard producing wines with big, bold flavor. "This wine has a full body and a jammy taste," says Chef Rob Wickner, the restaurant's proprietor and general manager. Aromas of cherry, plum and spice on the mid-palate are coupled with smooth tannins on the finish.

Food pairing suggestions: Rob reccomends pairing this cabernet with Catch Twenty-Three's Lollipop Pork Chop, served with a blackberry and red wine reduction. If you're enjoying appetizers during happy hour, (Monday-Friday from 5-7 p.m.) a nice complement to this varietal would be the very flavorful Shredded Pork & Sweet Plantains, served with guava barbecue sauce and Jamaican cole slaw.

Heard it through the grapevine: "Like" Catch Twenty-Three on Facebook to stay up-to-date on the nightly specials, such as Wine Lovers' Wednesday, when ladies can enjoy all the wine they like from the month's featured vineyard for only $15.

About this column: Each week "Cheers, Westchase!" brings you a different selection to clink your glasses to, reconnect with friends over, or assist in decompressing from the week. Every selection will be either a beer, cocktail or wine you can find right here in the neighborhood.
