Target America: Opening Eyes to the Damage Drugs Cause

Opens at MOSI, September 16, 2011 and will be on display for one full year. An Interactive Exhibit on the Costs & Consequences of Illegal Drugs, Target America offers students a dynamic journey exploring the origins of drug production, international distribution of narcotics, the negative impact drugs have on communities, damaging costs to the environment, physiological effects caused by drugs, and current practices in prevention and treatment. The Target America exhibit provides a teacher resource guide which includes pre-visit/post-visit materials that incorporate Sunshine State Standards within Target America’s thematic content, classroom exercises, gallery activities, and information for booking school tours. Target America’s exhibit content and the educational materials will enhance the drug prevention programs occurring in your schools and provide a safe environment to create awareness about the damages drugs cause in our communities and ultimately on our children.

MOSI opened its doors permanently to the public in 1982 and has been offering unique exhibits aimed at both children and adults since. MOSI also houses an IMAX dome that plays standard IMAX films and select feature films. Traveling exhibits, such as the Bodies area, are frequently on display. There is much to do for people of every age, from a butterfly garden to an astronomy show to a high-wire bike.

Nothing in the description, I see, about how enforcement of drug LAWS or the "war on drugs" has negatively impacted communities, lives, or the environment (not to mention the economy).

RandyK, there are several drug users that are struggling with addiction. Please keep this in mind and be sensitive to the individuals and family members that are going through this. Maybe shooting drug users on site may not be the best option. Prayer, support, counseling are always options.

Struggling with being weak willed, entitled and a burden on society. I do have drug abusers and alcoholics in my family and have no use whatsoever for any of them. Could I remove them all from my families gene pool legally, I would do so in an instant. They have spent most of their lives doing nothing but causing pain for the productive members of the family and living off of the taxpayers. Full and permanent recovery almost never occurs, and soon or later they will kill some innocent bystander with a car or a weapon.
