Beauty & Banter: Winter Book List: 3 Books to Pique Your Interest

Cooler Weather Means It's Time to Engage Your Imagination!

While having lunch a few weeks ago with a friend we began talking about how much we both like to read. She has a love for romance novels and I for historical romance...so basically the same thing. Laughing...Romance being the key to the appeal and entertainment value of course.

The subject came up about how much we read before having kids and now that her children are grown she has found a new love for it and also that there are some pretty interesting books out to satisify the interest. I would read a novel every few days "pre kids" and now since my newborn is pretty much sleeping through the night have found myself picking up a book again at night. Yay! I just finished the first novel of "Fifty Shades of Grey", but haven't picked up the second yet. I am torn between finding and reading more about the ellusive Christan Grey and being bored with Ms. Steele, so for now I am holding off buying the second. It was fun while it lasted though!

After browsing the isles at Barnes & Noble the other day with my son I found that there are so many amazing and really exciting books out right now. I always travel over the YA (Young Adult) section because I enjoy a good teen romance aka Twilight am I right? Laughing...So here is my picks for the winter season to pique your interest and inspire fantasy and escape. Enjoy!

1. "The Changeling" by Philippa Gregory-What I love about Philippa Gregory is her amazing ability to weave a plot and amazing character sometime true to historical fact. She does so much research in her writing that I often feel like I am learning about Tudor Englands history in the process. Her new book "The Changeling" is her first book in her new Young Adult series. I have heard great things about this book and am looking forward to it.

2. "A Crossfire Novel:Bared to You" by Silvia Day-This book is on the top of editors and customer lists. It next on my reading list and I can't wait to delve into this scorching romance novel. I have never read any of Silvia Days' books but am thinking she may be an author to put on my Kindles' list.

3. "Witch & Wizard" series by James Patterson-This iconic author of adult dramatic thrillers is getting ready to release his fourth book in the Young Adult series called "Witch & Wizard:The Kiss" and its supernatural and inventive. This is a series that I am sure is going to be action-packed.

I hope that at least one of these books or series will captivate you and inspire you to head to your local Barnes & Noble or just get instant gratification on your Nook or Kindle!

Until Next Time,

Alexis
