Silent Auction fundraiser Oct. 24 to benefit local preschool

Spa services, theme park tickets, restaurant gift cards, and a fishing charter are just a few of the coveted items parents and students will bid for at the Academy of Our Saviour’s Italian Night, a fundraiser organized by parents to raise money for non-budgeted items for the school.

“Italian Night is unique,” states Shannon Fyfe, parent and organizer of the event. “I don't think there are many schools that do this type of event for this few families. Most schools that have silent auctions have hundreds of students.”

The day will begin with a delicious dinner, catered by Carrabba's Italian Grill on Sheldon Road, giving families and students the opportunity for fellowship. Following is the silent auction, raffle baskets and crafts created by each class, a bake contest, face painting, and a DJ to get the kids moving.

“Technology plays a big role in our lives now, and we recognize the advantages it can bring to the classroom, so our goal is to raise enough money to get a smartboard for our media room,” states Jeannelle Gibson, principal of the school. “This will make us one of a few preschools in the area with a smartboard.”

The media and community are invited to attend Thursday, October 24th, from 5-7:30 pm at the Academy of Our Saviour, 8401 West Hillsborough Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33615.
