A Taste of Comedy in Westchase

Recently, my sister and I checked out a free comedy show at a Westchase neighborhood bar, The Chase Club. The Chase Club is the kind of establishment that you would expect regulars to frequent.

It boasts no cover charge and reasonable prices, as well as drink specials. We found the bartenders to be quick and friendly, which probably also has something to do with the bar’s loyal following. In fact, this loyal following played a part in getting the comedy show series off the ground.

The shows’ producer, Demetri Lewis, was pow wowing with some of Chase Club regulars one night and together they came up with the concept, he said. The comedy shows are held on the second Saturday of every month and they seem to be quite popular as it was a packed house the night we stopped by.  

Although reservations are recommended for the shows (it's 20.00 per table or $5.00 per seat.) But don't feel pressured, my sister and I didn’t make reservations and we had no trouble settling in comfortably up at the bar. We got there about an hour before the show’s 9:00pm start time, so we ordered some beverages and enjoyed.

We were treated to two local comedians, Pat Largo and Pretty Paul Parsons. My partner in crime and I both laughed wholeheartedly at the majority of Pat Largo’s set as did the rest of the audience members. His road rage joke, which included a Beyonce song punch line, was worth leaving the house for alone. Pretty Paul Parsons’ material had its humorous moments, but it was definitely more adult oriented and I did notice some cringing at some of the racier jokes. I appreciate the fact that the Chase Club booked comics who would appeal to a variety of taste levels.
