The grassroots Relay for Life fundraising movement began in the 1980s in Washington and quickly spread around the country, according to the American Cancer Society’s website. The Westchase event is just one of hundreds staged in communities across America. Most of the money raised at local relays benefits local chapters of the cancer society.

To donate to the Westchase cause, just visit the relay’s webpage or stop by Davidsen, 10501 Mongague St., tonight to watch the community come together to battle cancer.
