Former NFL Player Brings Sports Program To Westchase

NFL Player Tony Bland brings PROtential Sports to Westchase.

The Blands know about sports. Tony Bland is a former wide receiver with the Minnesota Vikings. And his wife, Nyree, is a professional tennis player.

The couple combined their knowledge and love of sports by launching PROtential Sports, an afterschool and summer camp focused on sports and character development.

In August, PROtential Sports will open its seventh location in the Waterchase community in Westchase.

"We’re absolutely thrilled to be giving kids in Waterchase an opportunity to reach their full potential in all areas of life," Tony Bland said. "We're confident that our integrated approach to developing campers athletically, mentally and emotionally, will have a powerful impact on children in the community."

The sports program will begin offering classes when the school year begins in late August in Waterchase as the community's clubhouse, located at 14401 Waterchase Blvd. The cost will be $68 per week, with a $10 discount for residents.

The camp will include coach led sessions on soccer, basketball, football, baseball, lacrosse, golf, tennis, and cheerleading. In addition to sports coaching and mentorship, the program offers transportation, snacks and homework help to all of its students.

Beyond sportsmanship, the program aims to cultivate character traits in the youth. Every student is given individual mentorship to help them grow physically, mentally and emotionally, according to a press release from PROtential Sports.

"We couldn’t be happier about PROtential Sports coming to our community," said Kim Skrovanek, lifestyle director for Waterchase. "Our facilities and fields offer all of the amenities PROtential needs to thrive. We look forward to sharing in the excitement and watching the camp impact the lives of children both now and in future."
