Meet Ferris: Westchase Pet of the Week
This energetic Boston Terrier lives in Lake Chase with his owner, Maureen Greco.
Patch: How did you come up with the name Ferris?
Maureen Greco: First, I was looking up pet names online. Later that night, I was watching the 1986 movie, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. I thought it was a good name for him because he was a kind of cool guy and everyone liked him.
Patch: Where did you get him from?

Greco: I got him from a breeder in Houston, Texas when he was ten weeks old. He was born November 4, 2001.
Patch: What made you choose a Boston Terrier?

Greco: They are short-haired and easy to take care of. They are playful, have good energy and like exercise. A Boston was a perfect breed for me.
Patch: Does he do any tricks?
Greco: He will sit and stay. He knows his toys by name. You can tell him which toy to bring you and he will go and get it. He jumps and catches a Frisbee in the air. He gives the Border Collies a run for their money!
Patch: Does your pet like the water?
Greco: He loves the water. He is a good swimmer. He loves Fort Desoto Beach.
Patch: What are his eating habits?
Greco: He eats his food but he doesn’t gorge on it. He’s obsessed with tomato juice. I gave him some when he was younger and now he has an addiction to it. I asked the vet about it and he said it is fine for him. If I have a glass and he smells it, he will run over to it. He also likes Blue Dog Food Treats and steak.
Patch: Does Ferris watch television?
Greco: Yes. He watches cartoons. He likes Law and Order. I don’t know why, maybe the sound, but he loves that show. When he gets excited, he licks the DVD player.
Patch: Does he have any good buddies, either human or animal?
Greco: He really likes kids. He just likes people in general. He really LOVES me.
Patch: How about a nemesis?
Greco: Squirrels! He does not like squirrels. He will chase them. He is okay with cats though. He chases lizards too.
Patch: Is he afraid of anything?
Greco: Fireworks bother him.
Patch: Have you ever dressed him up for Halloween?
Greco: He was a cow one year. Another year he was a chicken. The cow went over better though because he is black and white.
Patch: Describe Ferris in three words.
Greco: Playful, mischievous, fun-loving.
