Popular Reality TV Show Inspires Cancer Fundraiser

The Amazing Race for Life returns to Westchase February 27.

Contestants will compete in Westchase’s version of the Amazing Race to help raise money for the American Cancer Society Feb. 27.

This is the second year Debbie Steinfeld and her son Brett are organizing the event as part of their contribution to help the fight against cancer. Brett was inspired to coordinate the fundraiser when learning his grandfather was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year.

The Amazing Race for Life starts at Westchase Recreation Center. Teams navigate a neighborhood course around the Westchase area, solving clues and riddles to help find their way through town. The clues will be more challenging than last year's event, Steinfeld said. Contestants will have to master many tasks, including basketball shootouts, among others.

Three-thousand dollars was raised in 2010, with this year's goal at $5,000. All funds raised through the race will be donated to the American Cancer Society to help find a cure.

Sponsors are needed to help fund the event. Interested parties should contact Steinfeld at steinfeldgator@hotmail.com
