Summer Weather Sizzles Westchase This Week

Highs into the 90s dominate a week that's anticipated to follow a typical seasonal pattern of afternoon storms. Dorian's remains are far off, but they still bear watching.

Grab that sunscreen, pack an umbrella and prepare to sweat.

Forecasters are calling for a fairly “typical” Florida summer weather pattern for the Westchase area this week. That means plenty of sunshine, temperatures around the 90s and a decent chance of rain in the afternoon hours.

The chances for afternoon storms run from about 30 to 50 percent throughout the week, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Rodney Wynn. During the evening hours, rain chances strop to about 30 percent.

While Tampa Bay is shaping up for a typical cycle of highs around 90 and afternoon storms, forecasters are keeping a close eye on what remains of Tropical Storm Dorian. The trough of low press is still far from Florida, near Puerto Rico, but Wynn says with a 40 percent chance it could reform into an organized storm, it’s too early to write it off just yet.
