Veterans Expressway Update: Wilsky Boulevard Exits Closing

Detours will be set up between Henderson Road, and Waters and Linebaugh.

Westchase motorists who use the Veterans Expressway, specifically the Wilksy Boulevard exits, should take note.

The southbound and northbound exits for Wilsky Boulevard will be closed through this week (July 8 through July 13) for construction, according to a press release from the Florida Department of Transportation.

This construction is part of a $386 million improvement project that widens 11 miles of the Veterans Expressway (Toll 589) in Hillsborough County.

The current widening project aims to convert the section of highway from Memorial Highway to Van Dyke Road to all-electronic tolling, which the department says will provide non-stop travel to the nearly 150,000 customers who use the Veterans Expressway daily. The project is expected to be complete by mid-2014.
