Village Market Making Return Soon

The market in West Park Village will reopen on Monday, July 22.

If you've been craving the chicken salad at The Market in West Park Village -- fret not.

The famed chicken salad, fresh baked bagels and more will be available again on Monday, July 22 when the market reopens.

The market has been closed since March. After months of remodeling, it will reopen next week with a refreshed look. The market also has a new owner and a new name.

The former "Village Market" is now named "Village Bagels and Subs."

The new owner, Ziad Malhas, said the market will focus on quality products including kettle boiled bagels and Boar's Head meat and cheese.

"No more microwave," Malhas said. "Everything is oven fresh."

A glimpse inside the new market at 10100 Montague St. reveals shiny, hardwood floors, a refreshed menu and a new logo. There will be 12 bagel varieties, including Sun Dried Tomato and French Toast. Bialy bagels will also be available.

The market will be open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Sunday. However, they will no longer serve hot dinners or sell groceries.

"The focus will be a clean atmosphere," said manager Chuck Olson. "We're going back to good quality food."
