West Park Village Pool To Remain Open Longer Next Year; Board Allots Funds for Change

A proposal to change the pools schedule to April-October is on the table.

Westchase residents who enjoy swimming or relaxing poolside may get to experience that past-time more often next year, according to a new plan being considered by the Westchase Community Association.

Under the plan, the West Park Village pool would open in April and remain open through the month of October. The pool would only hold weekend hours in April and October.

Currently, that pool, located next to the management office on Parley Drive, opens in May and closes for the season at the end of September.

"The budget was already done so we told them we’d consider it," Griffin said, referring to last year.

The expanded pool calendar is expected to cost the association an additional $4,000 for lifeguards.

"It’s a lot of return for not a lot of money spent," Griffin said.

The cost for the expanded pool program is included in the board's proposed 2012 budget. The board will discuss and vote on the $1.39 million budget at it's next monthly meeting scheduled for Sept. 8 at 7:30pm. The board will meet at 10049 Parley Drive.
