Book Discussions at Both Westchase Area Libraries Next Week

"The Corrections" by Jonathan Franzen and Mary Ann Marger's "Departure" will be discussed.

Both of Westchase's libraries will offer book discussions about award winning pieces of literature on Monday, Dec. 19.

  • At the , "The Corrections," by Johnathan Franzen, a winner of the National Book Award for Fiction will be discussed. The book explores an old-time America of freight trains and civic duty, of Cub Scouts and Christmas cookies and sexual inhibitions, into brilliant collision with the modern absurdities of brain science, home surveillance, hands-off parenting, do-it-yourself mental healthcare, and the anti-gravity New Economy. Discussion is at 11am-12:30pm. 11211 Countryway Blvd in Tampa.
  • The will host Mary Ann Marger, a speaker at the the Florida Holocaust Museum and at USF-St. Petersburg, will discusses her book, "Departure," which followsd a German and his close friendship with a Jewish boy who causes him to courageously defy his Nazi indoctrination. Discussion is at 2pm-3pm. 17808 Wayne Rd. in Odessa.
