'Zombies' Needed for Weekend Production

A participant in a local contest is calling on area residents to take up the cause by dressing up as zombies for an upcoming video shoot. Also needed are people "to run from the zombies."

Tiger von Pagel is looking for a few good zombies – about 10 to 20 to be exact.

As a round one finalist in the Carrollwood Idol contest, von Pagel is planning to move into round two with a zombie flick that calls for lots of local extras. To make that happen, von Pagel put out a call on the Carrollwood Players’ Facebook page asking for locals willing to play roles during a shoot this Sunday, April 21, in the Safety Harbor area.

Needed are 10 to 20 people for the zombie roles and extras that are “willing to run from (the) zombies,” von Pagel wrote.

The zombie video is being put together for a good cause, von Pagel said in a subsequent interview with Patch. Money raised by those who vote in the Carrollwood Idol contest will go to the nonprofit theater group.

Carrollwood Idol is a contest that’s being sponsored by the Carrollwood Players to raise money for future activities. Round 2 of the contest, “The YouTube Semi-Finals,” starts at 12 a.m. on May 15 with a round of online voting. It closes on June 15.

Once voting opens, people can visit the Carrollwood Players’ website to “purchase votes for their favorite videos, which is how we are raising money for the theater,” von Pagel explained. “After the second round of voting, the seven videos that receive the most votes will go on to the finals, to be held live at (the) Carrollwood Players on Saturday, Aug. 17.”

“Zombies” are asked to provide their own costumes – dirty, ripped clothes – and any zombie makeup they can find. There will be some makeup available on scene, too.
