Shattering the Idea of the "Traditional Cruise Ship"

Goodbye Shuffleboard and boring buffets! Amazing and innovative features are dramatically changing the way we cruise.

In order to keep up with the rapidly changing technology of our times, Cruise Lines are making major changes in the construction of their new ships.  Gone are the days of passive shuffleboard and uninspiring buffets; tiny pools and cramped quarters.

Today’s cruise ships are beautiful, innovative, and fun!

Hop onto Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Dream, and you’ll find inside staterooms with live sea views from a virtual porthole; artwork that interacts with you; and the AquaDuck – an on-board water coaster that rivals anything you’ll find at a land-based water park.

Cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas, and enjoy a choice of balcony staterooms that have ocean views OR “Boardwalk” or “Central Park” views.  Climb one of two multi-story rock walls; zip-line across the interior “Boardwalk”; or catch a show at the Aqua Theater, featuring platform divers and Cirque-like performers.

Celebrity Cruise Line’s new ship the Celebrity Reflection has an outdoor grassy area on board called the Lawn Club Grill (you choose your meat, and they grill it up for you!); a gasp-inducing Wine Tower; and an industry-first all-inclusive alcoholic beverage package.

Carnival Cruise Line has upped the fun factor with their “Funship 2.0” program. New additions include Guy Fieri’s “Guy’s Burger Joint”; the Alchemy Bar, which lets guests create their own signature cocktails; and Carnival’s WaterWorks on-board water park.

Most of the major cruise lines now also feature amazing spas, fun and vibrant adult-only restaurants, lounges, and bars, and world-class specialty dining.

Cruise lines are now also offering more destinations than ever.  You can cruise to the expected locals – Alaska, Bahamas, and Mexico.  Or you can cruise through the Panama Canal, or through the Mediterranean, or along the coast of South America.  Virtually any destination you can think of along the coast is sailed by a major Cruise Line.

Don’t worry - you can still play shuffleboard on a cruise.  The buffets still exist, but with tremendously higher quality and variety.  Do everything or do nothing – young or old, families or couples, multi-generational groups.

It’s hard to beat the variety and value of a cruise, and with the new features on board, why would you want to?
