'Asian Goddess' Reigns Supreme at Samurai Blue

Each week "Cheers, Westchase!" helps you kick off your weekend, highlighting either a beer, cocktail or wine you can find right here in the neighborhood.

The "Cheers Westchase!" pick of the week is influenced by the flavors of the Far East. Samurai Blue Sushi & Sake Bar, 12950 Racetrack Road, offers a true heavenly treat in its Asian Goddess martini.

Comprised of pear sake, Absolut Mandarin vodka, Sprite and a splash of pineapple juice, the flavor profile of this specialty cocktail is simultaneously tart and sweet. The star of the drink, the cold sake, has a lush aroma of the Asian Pear, which is native to Japan and Korea and has an appearance to a green apple.

The Asian Goddess could be the perfect complement to edamame or a savory appetizer such as negimaki (thinly sliced beef, rolled with asparagus and green onion, then sautéed in a sake teriyaki glaze).

Some of the popular makimono rolls that may pair well with the Asian Goddess are the decadent Tempura Lobster Roll, the Tuna Summer of Love, and the cleverly named Spontaneous Combustion Roll...you'll have to visit to try it for yourself!

Samurai Blue is open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dinner hours are Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m.
