Cinco De Mayo: 5 Places To Celebrate in Westchase This Weekend

A special holiday edition of "Cheers, Westchase!"

Spanish for the "5th of May," Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican victory over French forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.  It's a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride, and a great time to break out the Mexican-inspired cocktails and fare that make this day so much fun.

Lucky for us, several spots in town are ready to bring you the fiesta. Here are the Top 5 Places to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Westchase:

#1 : "Cinco de Drinko" is the name of their two-day party that starts at noon on Saturday and continues on Sunday. Expect live music, drink specials, giveaways, and for the kids -- a bounce house and facepainting.  Insider tip: Try their cucumber jalapeno margarita, it's unexpectedly delicious.

#2 : Catch will branch out from their Caribbean roots on Saturday to add nachos, burritos and fajitas to their regular menu.  Also they'll have $5 Margaritas,  a pinata for the kids and a sombrero contest for the adults. Ole!

#3 : Billing themselves an "upscale dive bar," Cinco de Mayo at Remedy means $3 Coronas, Corona Light and margaritas. Insider tip: Their margarita has a fruity twist and features tequila, Midori, pineapple juice and a splash of grenadine.

#4 : Get ready for their festive tent party. Live music and drink specials are sure to make this a fun fiesta. Enjoy $2 Corona and Corona Light, $6 Herradura margaritas and $4 Herradura tequila shots.

#5 : $2 Coronas, Corona Lights. $6 Cuervo Tradicional margaritas, $5 Cuervo shots. And who'd have thought to see a sushi special on Cinco de Mayo? Yes, they're (very cleverly) offering $5 Mexican rolls.

Whether you like your on the rocks, frozen, with a salted rim or extra lime, we hope you enjoy your margaritas responsibly and have a great weekend. Cheers, Westchase!
