Bloody Mary: The World's Most Complex Cocktail

When you cover as many fancy-schmancy drinks as we do on "Cheers, Westchase!," sometimes you just have to get back to the basics. This week, we head to to feature their classic Bloody Mary.
The Bloody Mary has been called "the world's most complex cocktail." This one, like many others before its time, features vodka and a tomato juice mix with some zip. The "complexity" in this otherwise simple cocktail comes from the myraid combination of ways it can be garnished -- a celery stalk, rimmed with celery salt, olives, black pepper and of course, Tabasco sauce, to name just a few.

- The original Bloody Mary is said to be invented by an actor named George Jessel, who first added spices to what was originally just vodka and tomato juice.
- There was a brief period during the 1940s and early 1950s where the drink was called a "Red Snapper."
- Tabasco became a traditional part of the recipe in the late 1950s.
