Mobile Health Van Rolls Into Westchase

The BayCare Outpatient Center will host "Health-O-Ween."

Over the next couple months they'll be no shortage of festive eats as the holidays roll in. From candy to turkey to cookies, we'll all likely pack on a few pounds.

The folks at Healthpoint Medical Group want to make sure everyone's in tip top condition before the imbibing begins.

On Monday, Oct. 22, the BayCare Outpatient Center, located at 12780 Race Track Road will host an event titled "Health-O-Ween" From 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. people can take advantage of free health screenings, get flu shots and tour the Cigna Mobile Learning Lab, a traveling wellness center on a super-modified 18-wheel truck.

The hands-on learning lab offers six interactive exhibits allowing visitors to discover how stress, portion control and other lifestyle choices can impact overall health.

"People should not be afraid to learn about their health," said Dr. John Sosa with HealthPoint Medical Group. "The keys to good health are prevention and early detection through regular screenings, and we’re happy whenever we can help people learn more about maintaining their personal health."

The health screenings are free. There will be a $20 charge for flu shots. Paul Griffin, a defensive lineman for the Tampa Bay Storm, will make an appearance at the event at 1 p.m. Kids will also be treated to goodie bags and games.
