Sister Fashionistas Supporting Battered Women's Shelter

Sorella Fretta will host a Mother's Day Extravaganza on Thursday, May 10, to benefit The Spring of Tampa Bay.

The owners of Sorella Fretta Collections love making the women who come through their boutique doors look beautiful.

Since opening their doors last summer, sisters Francesca and Serena Fretta, have quickly made their boutique a go-to location in Citrus Park for both trendy and classic fashion.

And now they're hoping to extend that beauty to some women in need. On Thursday, May 10, the store will host a "Mother's Day Extravaganza" featuring food, wine and raffle prizes. All proceeds will go to The Spring of Tampa Bay, a nonprofit domestic violence prevention and emergency shelter agency.

"I love and support The Spring and what they do for battered women," said store co-owner Francesca Fretta.

Last fall the store collected clothing to donate to The Spring. This time they hoped to do more by hosting a night of food, wine and shopping.

Their goal is to raise at least $1,000 for shelter and increase awareness about the organization.

"This time before Mother's Day we wanted to raise money for these battered mothers to have an extra special Mother's Day," Francesca said."This event can help clothe, feed and give back hope to these women."

The Spring operates a 102-bed shelter at an undisclosed location in Tampa Bay. They work to prevent domestic violence, protect victims and promote change in lives, families, and communities.

The organization relies heavily on community support.

"We depend on the community to provide a lot of essentials that we provide or participants at our shelter," said Brenda Rouse, director of communications for The Spring. "Everything from shampoo and conditioner to laundry detergent to furniture and bedding when they move out into their own homes."

Events like the one being hosted at Sorella's provide the organization with their most needed commodity.

"Our number one need of course is cash," Rouse said. "That's the most valuable asset that we can have donated to us, because that unrestricted money goes to pay our electric bill and other overhead."

At Friday's event raffle tickets will cost $5. For each raffle ticket purchased, you'll recieve 10 percent off your entire purchase at Sorella Fretta's up to 50 percent off. Other raffle prizes include facials, tanning, fitness training, hair cut services, massages and wine by area businesses.

"Not only will you be giving back to a great cause you'll also being getting things back in return," Francesca said. "You can not beat it."

and , both businesses located in the same shopping center as Sorella's, will provide free food and wine for the event.

As an added bonus, the person who purchases the most raffle tickets will recieve a custom made belt buckle by Kristen Blake, owner of Novella Style Group.
