Dr. Olson: I started my business one year ago March. I moved my chiropractic practice to the Westchase area from St. Petersburg, where I had been working for the past 3 years. My business is located at the following address: 6902 W Linebaugh Ave, Tampa, FL 33625. We rent space out of a fitness and performance center called BLAST!

Patch: Please describe what you do. Do you have partners?

Dr. Olson: I am a chiropractor. My purpose is to help people achieve a higher level of health and healing by eliminating the stresses placed on the delicate nerves of the body. I am a nervous system doctor. Our body is designed to self regulate and self heal. When the nerves of the body are compressed, pinched, chaffed, damaged in any way, our body loses its ability to function at its peak potential. When pressure or damage to a nerve is left untreated, a symptom will occur as a warning signal. Instead of working on treating a symptom, my focus is finding and treating the problem. In most instances the problem is with the transmission of nerve signals between the brain to the body. By eliminating the stress on the nerves, our body is capable of fixing these problems on its own. Without placing a harmful chemical in our bodies or relying on needle injections or surgery. I currently do not have any partners.

Patch: What has been the biggest challenge as a business owner?

Dr. Olson: The biggest challenge as a business owner is marketing. When working out of another facility, our visibility is limited. The only way someone is going to know where we are and what we do is to get in front of them or give them some information about our product or service.

Patch: What's the best piece of business advice you've received?

Dr. Olson: If you want to make the life you have always wanted, you have to go into business for yourself! Sitting idle and hoping for a change isn't going to get it done. You have to jump at the opportunity and make it happen! You control your destiny.

Patch: What's the most rewarding thing about being business owner?

Dr. Olson: Having the freedom to make the business what I want it to be.

Patch: What encouragement would you give another person venturing out on their own or on their own and facing difficulties?

Dr. Olson: It is definitely a lot of work, but once your systems are in place and you are reaching people, there is no stopping you. Don't let fear get in your way.

The Westchase Area Business Association will be meeting Thursday, July 26 at 11:45 a.m. -1:00 p.m. at Aki Sushi, 3970 Tampa Rd, Oldsmar, Florida 34677.
