Italy In A Bottle: Zerillo's Full-Bodied Chianti

Each week "Cheers, Westchase!" helps you kick off your weekend, highlighting either a beer, cocktail or wine you can find right here in the neighborhood.

Our longtime readers may remember that before we started reviewing everything from margaritas to martinis, the "Cheers, Westchase!" column started out as the "Westchase Wine of the Week." This week we return to our roots and feature a full-bodied wine found at , located on 1655 Countryway Blvd. The Castello di Gabbiano Chianti 2010 is made in Italy and is sure to please the palate of those who like to pair wine with their Italian cuisine.

Description/flavor notes: This chianti wine is clear, bright and has a ruby-red color.  The aroma is of ripe plums spiced with pepper, and there are flavors of cherry, blackberry, and spice followed by a dry finish.

Price: $7.50 / glass

Food pairings: This chianti can stand up to a bold and/or tangy food flavors. We might pair it with their Pollo Zerillo (chicken sautéed in a white wine marinara sauce, topped with fresh tomato, ham, mozzarella cheese served over pasta),  their Veal Saltimboca (sliced veal scallopini sautéed in a sherry wine sauce topped with prosciutto, spinach and mozzarella cheese served over  pasta.) It would also go nicely with one of Zerillo's gourmet pizzas.
