Westchase Area Teachers Win Grant For Water Study

The teacher was one of 34 awarded a Splash! grant from the Southwest Florida Water Management District.

Two Westchase area teachers have won grants from the Southwest Florida Water Management District to study the health of area waterways.

The teachers are:

  • Christine Lindbak, Alonso High, was awarded $2,150. Students in her class will use the money to learn about the Hillsborough River watershed and then conduct water quality tests while on a field trip to the Crystal Springs Preserve.
  • Sara White, Henderson Hammock Charter, was awarded $754. Students will become “Watershed Warriors” and create a podcast sharing what they learn through classroom activities on the water cycle, watersheds and water quality.

Lindback and White are among the 34 Hillsborough educators to receive a Splash! grant from the SWFMD.
