Anderson Road Ramps Closing For Veterans Expressway Construction

The Veterans Expressway ramps will be closed starting May 19.

A major step in the $386 million Veterans Expressway widening project will begin May 19 when the Anderson Road exits will close to motorists.

That means if you normally use the northbound off or southbound on ramps during your commute your commute from Westchase, you'll have to rethink your travel plans, according to Florida's Turnpike.

Drivers will have to use the Waters on ramp and Linebaugh off-ramp when traveling.

The entire Veterans Expressway project will include the widening of 11 miles of road from four to eight lanes. The project's goal is to provide relief of congestion in the area. The first phase of construction began in April along Linebaugh Avenue to Gunn Highway.

The widening project also includes a converting the section of highway between Memorial Highway and Van Dyke Road to all-electronic tolling.

The entire project is set to be complete in 2014, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
