Earth Day Freebies in Westchase

Earth Day is celebrated on Monday April 22, but the freebies are through the weekend.

Monday, April 22 is designated as Earth Day. The day is dedicated to environmental education and promoting sustainable living through a variety of activities including festivals, fairs, classroom education and community activism.

The first Earth Day took place in 1970, according to the Earth Day Network.

Locally, many retailers and organizations are celebrating Earth Day by offering freebies through the weekend and on Monday.

Here's a look at what's available:

  • Chick-fil-A Westfield Citrus Park - It's Mommy and Me day at the mall's Chick-fil-A location where kids and parents can take part in free arts and crafts on Monday, April 22 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The mall is located at 8021 Citrus Park Drive.
  • Target - Get a free reusable bag from Target on Sunday, April 21 starting at 10 a.m. The store will pass out 1.5 million bags nationwide while supplies last. Go here to find your local Target.
  • Joann Fabric and Craft Store - On Sunday, April 21 stores will be offering a free make and take Ball jar planter project. To find your closest Joann go here.
  • Whole Foods Carrollwood - On Saturday, April 20 from noon to 2 p.m. bring an egg carton and create a planter with Whole Kids Foundation Seed Starter garden. Whole Foods Market Carrollwood is located at 3802 Northdale Blvd.
