GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview March 17-20

With a variety of entertainment venues and restaurants in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the Westchase area.

It’s Thursday and the weekend’s just around the corner. If you’re still stumped on what to do, we’ve got some great ideas.

  • Where/When: The Avenue at Westchase. Thursday at noon.
  • Why Go: Maloney's Irish Pub hosts an afternoon of festive entertainment in celebration of St. Patrick's Day. If you're in search of an authentic Irish experience, this is where you need to be. Enjoy an array of Irish beers, traditional food, and non-stop live entertainment with Tampa Bay's 102.5 The Bone, Daniel B. Marshall and the Dave Matthews Tribute Band.
  • Price: Prices vary.

James Johann Live at Side Splitters

  • Where/When: Side Splitters Comedy Club, 12938 N Dale Mabry Hwy. Thursday at 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
  • Why Go: Midwest native James Johann brings his down home country stand-up show to Side Splitters this weekend. Johann has toured the country with a number of notable comedians including Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy. With nineteen years of experience under his belt, Johann will surely keep the audience in a roar of laughter throughout the night.
  • Price: $8-$14.50

  • Where/When: World of Beer, 9524 W Linebaugh Ave. Saturday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
  • Why Go:  Local funk and soul band, the Black Honkeys, will perform all night for your listening pleasure, playing covers of many old school funk artists such as Marvin Gaye, Kool & The Gang, and James Brown. Take advantage of drink specials on select domestic and imported drafts, bottles and wine. 
  • Price: Free!

Wine, Chocolate and Romance

  • Where/When:  Museum of Science and Industry,11315 46th Street North, Tampa. Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m.
  • Why Go: Plan ahead for a trip to the MOSI grounds as the 2011 Bay Area Renaissance Festival continues its theme weekends with a day wine and chocolate tastings from local vendors and an array of fun activities for couples. Bring your sweetheart to this 2 day festival and fall in love all over again. Enjoy couples grape stomping, pie eating contests, the sweet stroll, and free vow renewals all weekend.
  • Price: Adults $17.95, Children $9.95

  • Where/When: Sweetwater Organic Farms, 6942 W. Comanche Ave. in Town 'N Country. Sunday at 1 p.m.
  • Why Go: Browse a variety of organic foods, all-natural products and more from local vendors at this outdoor market. This week's event features a performance by Jay Kiernan,  Joe Milligan, followed by Pasco Paul and Friends. Pets are welcome.
  • Price: Free!
