GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview March 24-27

With a variety of entertainment venues and restaurants in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the Westchase area.

It’s Thursday and the weekend’s just around the corner. If you’re still stumped on what to do, we’ve got some great ideas.

Steve Harvey Appearance at Barnes & Noble

  • Where/When: Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 11802 N Dale Mabry Hwy. Thursday and Friday at 6 p.m.
  • Why Go: Famed comedian and actor tuned best-selling author, Steve Harvey will make an appearance at the local Barnes and Noble on Friday to meet with fans and sign copies of his latest book, "Straight Talk, No Chaser: How to Find, Keep, and Understand a Man." Wristbands will be given out Thursday at 6 p.m. to ensure your place in the book signing line. The author will sign a maximum of five copies per person, and you must have at least one purchase receipt present.
  • Price: Books are $24.99

  • Where/When: Independent Day School-Corbett Campus, 12015 Orange Grove Dr. Thursday at 7 p.m.
  • Why Go: The Independent Day School Musical Theatre Elective reprises Rodger and Hammerstein's, "Oklahoma!" Show your support for these talented student performers as they give life to the classic musical on stage. Sing along to such songs as “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'" and "All Er Nothin'." If you love music, this is a fun show you will not want to miss.
  • Price: $5.00 per person.

Oldsmar Days

  • Where/When: R.E. Olds Park, 107 Shore Drive W, Oldsmar. Friday, 5 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. and Sunday at noon.
  • Why Go: Head over to Oldsmar for the 50th Annual Oldsmar Days event. Families are invited to the park for live music, food and drinks, rides, wings cook-off and a classic car show. 
  • Price: Free admission; Ride wristbands $18 per day, $50 all weekend.

  • Where/When: World of Beer, 9524 W Linebaugh Ave. Saturday from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.
  • Why Go: The end of the work week is only one day away, unwind from the hustle and bustle of the office at World of Beer. Dosage will perform all night for your listening pleasure, playing selections of original music and covers. Take advantage of drink specials on select domestic and imported drafts, bottles and wine. 
  • Price: Free!

  • Where/When: Airheads Trampoline Fun Center, 5072 W Linebaugh Ave. Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Why Go: The Westchase Elementary Dads' hosts a fun filled day of jumping and pizza at Airheads. Enjoy bouncing on the indoor trampolines, prize giveaways and free pizzas from Pizza Fusion. Proceeds will benefitWestchase Elementary School.
  • Price: $15 per person

  • Where/When: Tampa Bay Downs, 11225 Race Track Rd. Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Join Univision Television Network at the Tampa Bay Downs Backyard for an afternoon of family entertainment with Latin flair.Livemusic, dancing, games, pony rides for the kids and a special meet and greet with Univision celebrities are on schedule for the day. 
  • Price: Free!
