Power Outage Closes Upper Tampa Bay Park

Westchase residents have other options on places to go to enjoy some outdoor time until the park reopens.

Hoping to visit Upper Tampa Bay Park to take advantage of the mild weather and fairly low rain chances?

You’re out of luck today, Feb. 25, and possibly tomorrow. A power outage has forced Hillsborough County to close the 8001 Double Branch Road park “until further notice,” according to a media release from the county.

Residents who want to enjoy the great outdoors are being asked to visit other nearby parks, including:

  • Lake Park, 17302 N Dale Mabry Highway in Lutz
  • Upper Tampa Bay Trail, 9201 W. Waters Ave. in Tampa

If you do plan to visit one of these parks, it’s looking like the weather might cooperate Monday at least. The National Weather Service says we’re in for a high of 81 Feb. 25 with about a 30 percent chance of rain during the daytime hours. Those chances increase tonight to 40 percent and go up to 70 percent on Tuesday.
