Veterans Express Way Construction Update

Here’s a look at what Westchase motorists can expect the week of May 13 as work to widen the Veterans Expressway continues.

Linebaugh Avenue to Gunn Highway

Drivers can expect:

• To see installation of erosion control devices.
• Temporary widening and guardrail removal in the median area on the Expressway’s southbound lanes. This will involve some inside, nighttime lane closures.
• North and southbound inside lane closures over the next few weeks.
• Mobilization of bridge equipment to the Rocky Creek bridge area so installation of piles can begin.

Waters Avenue to Linebaugh Avenue

Nighttime single lane closures are expected both north- and southbound north of the Anderson Road mainline toll plaza to south of the Linebaugh Avenue ramps. This work will include:

• Placement of temporary asphalt for an upcoming shift in the traffic pattern.

Drivers should watch out for crews installing temporary barrier walls in both the north- and southbound directions.

Other Project News

• The southbound on-ramp and northbound off-ramp at Anderson Road are  reduced to one lane in each direction.
• Drivers heading northbound through the plaza at Anderson Road need to be alert for the upcoming elimination of the far left mixed-use lane. This is being converted to a SunPass-only lane.
• The Anderson Road northbound off and southbound on ramps will close May 19 for reconstruction. Motorists will have to use the Waters on-ramp and the Waters or Linebaugh off-ramps after the closing.
• Henderson Road will be closed around the clock May 18-19 near the Veterans Expressway ramps.
