Westchase Wine of the Week: Lapostolle "Casa" 2009 Merlot

Every Thursday we bring you a Westchase wine proprietor's Pick of the Week. Each selection will be a bottle you can find here in the neighborhood for under $25.

Lapostolle "Casa" 2009 Merlot

Where can I buy it in Westchase?

Price: $25

Flavor notes/description: With a deep burgundy/purple color, Casa is 85 percent merlot but is actually a blend of these other red grapes: malbec, petit syrah and petit verdot — and it's full of red fruit and sweet spices. "There's a llitle oakiness, which is why I really like it," says Blend manager Dung To. "This is a very heavy red; it's actually a wine I enjoy as a nightcap."

Food pairing suggestions: Dung reccomends pairing this "big" merlot with an entree of red meat. Blend doesn't serve food, but not to worry. , along with several other areas restuarants, delivers here until 2 a.m. — why not order an appetizer of beef carpaccio or sliders to share al fresco with friends?

Heard it through the grapevine: Be sure to "Like" Blend on Facebook.  Here you'll find updates on their weekly specials like Tannin Tuesdays and Westchase Wednesdays  (25 percent off your entire bill for those with a Westchase area code), as well as their upcoming annual charity golf expo held in November.
