Westchase Relay for Life

Relay for Life is coming to Westchase!  The Relay
is the American Cancer Society's signature fund-raising event, bringing
communities together in hope, celebration, and memory.  The overnight event
remembers those who have lost the fight against cancer and honors those who have
survived, while raising funds to find a cure. Relay for Life of Westchase is
scheduled for May 10-11, 2013 from 6pm to noon.  At Relay, teams of people camp
out at Davidsen Middle School field and take turns walking or running around the
track. Cancer doesn't sleep, and neither will our teams!
  Last year, this event raised $93,000.  Our teams have
been working diligently to raise even more money this year and attain our goal
of $100,000. Hopefully, many Westchase residents have seen and/or
participated in some of the Relay for Life fundraisers that have taken place in
our community such as car washes, the Easter egg festival, and the food truck
rally.  We would like to thank you for your support and invite each of you to
come out and participate in the actual Relay event.  The theme is "Party for a
Cure", and it is going to be quite a party. Throughout the event there will be a
DJ, games, challenges, contests and prizes being passed out all night long!  We
will have bounce houses, food for purchase, kickball, relay races, musical
chairs, and a scavenger hunt. Additionally, the Alonso High school dance team is
going to be there teaching us how to dance!  This is a family friendly event and
all are welcome!  The Relay Teams will constantly be walking around the track
and to keep them motivated, we have planned fun themes for different laps,
including;  college theme, crazy hat, neon, and bingo. Please come cheer them
on. At 9:00 pm, a lap lit by luminaries, decorated in remembrance of loved ones
we have lost to cancer, will occur.  To honor those who have survived cancer, a
lap for survivors only will take place. A special invitation goes out to anyone
in our community who has beaten cancer to come join us and celebrate!  If you
