"Take It Outside"

The days of your workouts being confined to a building made of four cement walls, surrounded by steel machines and flourescent lighting should be long gone.

When you think of working out, what is the first thing that comes to mind? An hour of counting reps while "pumping iron" at your local gym? 30 minutes of pounding your feet on a tredmill or elliptical machine while watching a t.v. show, just to help pass the time? The days of your workouts being confined to a building made of four cement walls, surrounded by steel machines and flourescent lighting should be long gone.

It's time to step out of "the box", and take your fitness routines outside.  Studies have shown many benefits, both mentally and physically, to exercising outdoors. The natural environment can help one to feel more revitalized, more energized, less stressed, and a decrease in tension. Not to mention, the variety of workouts that one can do outdoors is limitless, helping to keep your workout routine fresh and ever-changing...never allowing you to get bored or lose interest.

And remember, exercising outdoors does not just include pounding the pavement, and running 5 miles.  Find a group of friends, and make it fun!  Rent some kayaks or paddleboards for a few hours, to take in the view of the ocean, while strengthening and toning your upper body and core.  Find a place that offers yoga on the beach, clear your mind while you strengthen your body. Join an outdoor fitness camp or boot camp, where a certified trainer will guide you through group-based drills and exercises...always changing up the routine, and keeping it fun!!Your options are limitless, you just need to be willing to think, and step out of "the box".
