Behavioral Consulting of Tampa Bay is Now Blogging on Topics Such as ABA Therapy and Autism

Behavioral Consulting of Tampa Bay will now be posting blogs on all topics related to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy and Autism!

Do you have a child that has Autism or a related disorder or do you know of someone that does?  Current statistics from the CDC suggest that 1 in 88 children have a diagnosis of Autism, with boys being 4 times more likely to have the disorder than girls.  With these alarming rates, parents are struggling to find the most effective interventions for their children as well as helpful hints to get them through basic daily tasks that seem almost impossible with a child with autism.  For this reason, Behavioral Consulting of Tampa Bay will now be blogging on topics such as Autism and related disorders, as well as effective interventions for improving the life of a child with Autism and their family.

Does your child have difficulty brushing their teeth or having their nails and/or hair cut?  Do they get upset and frustrated when you change their routine or during transitions?   Do they lack age-appropriate communication and social skills?  Does your child eat only a limited number of foods and stick to a very specific list that doesn’t include many fruits or vegetables?  Are they over 3 years of age and still not toilet trained?  All of these behaviors are addressed through Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, which has been proven, through research, to be the most effective treatment for Autism and related disorders.

My name is Kelley Prince and I am the president and owner of Behavioral Consulting of Tampa Bay, Inc.  I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis both received at the University of South Florida.  I began working with children on the Autism Spectrum in 1997.  Since that time, I have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of families in the Tampa Bay area with Autism or a related disorder as well as children who may not have a diagnosis but who engage in problem behavior.  I specialize in the development and implementation of verbal behavior programs that focus on teaching language and functional communication skills, academic skills, social skills, self-help skills and compliance behavior to children who have difficulty in these areas.  I also specialize in implementing intensive potty training programs for children who are difficult to train as well as intensive feeding programs for children with very limited diets.
