AT&T hiring in Tampa Bay, statewide

Good news for job seekers in Tampa Bay:  AT&T* today announced it is looking for applicants to fill nearly 450 jobs statewide, including nearly 200 newly created jobs.

In the Tampa Bay area, more than a dozen retail positions are open in Tampa, Clearwater and Oldsmar. This comes as the company tallies its 2013 hires in Florida at nearly 3,000, including wire technician, retail, call center, IT/engineering, business solutions, consumer sales, and corporate support positions.

Most of the job openings have been spurred by AT&T’s focus on delivering an effortless customer experience and Project Velocity IP (VIP). Project VIP is a multibillion dollar investment plan to expand and enhance AT&T’s IP broadband networks to support customers’ growing desire for high-speed Internet access and new mobile, app and cloud-based services. As part of Project VIP, AT&T plans to increase the density of its wireless network by adding more cell sites nationwide, as well as deploying more small cells and Distributed Antenna Systems.

“AT&T continues to expand its customer base in Florida and invest in our networks to ensure we are providing the high level of service customers have come to expect of the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network,” said AT&T Florida President Joe York. “These jobs are part of our commitment to this level of customer service and to support our growth in Florida. On behalf of AT&T Florida I want to personally thank Governor Scott for his continued commitment to creating an environment in Florida where businesses like AT&T can grow, and we are proud to join him in saying ‘let’s keep working’.”
