$20,000 in Pot Seized from Local Grow House

Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies busted the operation on Hollowell Drive after getting a tip.

Four area residents stand accused of operating a marijuana grow house after Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a tip about suspicious activities at a home on Hollowell Drive.

After getting the tip, deputies investigated and were able to get a search warrant from the court. When they served that search warrant Aug. 29, they discovered the tipster was correct. They subsequently seized 11 marijuana plants that weighed almost 20 pounds combined, a small amount of cocaine, a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun and a Taurus 9 mm handgun.

Two closets inside the 7108 Hollowell Drive home had been converted “for the sole purpose of cultivating marijuana,” an email to media from the sheriff’s office said. The plants have an estimated street value of $20,000.
