Citrus Park BP Closed Following Gas Spill

While roads are open, Hillsborough deputies say traffic in the Citrus Park Drive area might be heavy this morning as a result of the spill.

Motorists trying to fill up at the 8606 Citrus Park Drive BP gas station might be out of luck this morning.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the station was struck by gasoline thieves around 1:10 a.m. today, Feb. 21. The thieves are said to have parked a van over the station’s in-ground fuel tanks in an attempt to siphon gasoline. For unknown reasons, the suspects fled the station, leaving their van and several hundred gallons of gas behind.

During the theft, approximately 25 gallons of gas spilled into the station’s parking lot, a media release said.
