Farnell Student Arrested for Faking Threat Against School

Hillsborough deputies say the 13-year-old filed a false police report.

A 13-year-old Farnell Middle School student was arrested this morning after deputies say he fueled rumors of violence on the Westchase campus.

The official charge was filing a false police report, a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office media release said.

The incident began yesterday when the teen, whose name is not being released, reported graffiti on his driveway. The graffiti, written in dark magic marker, said: “From Con to FL Farnell UR Next!!”

When deputies responded to the home, the boy told them he had no idea who could have written the threat on his driveway, the release said.

Deputies arrested the boy at the school this morning. He told them he wasn’t threatening the school, but was “scared the Connecticut shooter was still alive and could next attack Farnell Middle School,” the release said. The boy told deputies the Newtown, Conn., shootings were the talk of the school and he “had to write it down” to get it out of his head.

The teen did say he knew how serious the crime was and that he was sorry.

A 15-year-old girl from Armwood High School was also arrested this week after creating a fake Facebook account and posting threats against that school, the release said.

Hillsborough County schools have also had two incidents involving bullets found on buses this week. Campuses across the county remain on modified lockdown following the shootings in Connecticut.

My child isn't in the school system yet but I hope our county has a zero tolerance policy with this stuff. These children have to have more respect and understand this is NOT funny, not after a tragedy...not ever.

So who was the boy?

I go here and they act like this is the first bad thing that happened, there have been way worse issues including weed getting smoked in the bathroom, oral sex in the bathroom and underage drinking.

@Anon So oral sex, weed smoking and underage drinking is worst than a chance of a kid shooting someone? Sounds a bit wrong.

Arrest was definitely appropriate. Zero tolerance for this behavior. I don't think the kid was scared at all. He sounds like a punk
TStewart December 19, 2012 at 12:48 PM
Zero tolerance for these punks. It probably won't be his last time being arrested

Agreed, zero tolerance. Hopefully they let him sleep it out in jail overnight. I think the family should have to go to counseling too. I know that's not realistic but this kid needs more discipline if he thinks this is remotely funny.

The boy's name is not being released due to his age.

To "anon" since you are a student at farnell, I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you are young and not yet mature since you think smoking weed, oral sex and underage drinking is the issue at this school. The shooting last Friday was a nightmare and is not even comparable to those minor issues. This boy needs to be punished and should go to counseling if he finds making a mockery of this incident funny. Also if weed, oral sex, and drinking is going on in your school lets hope you're not participating and for that matter all parents should re evaluate where they are sending their kids to school. The kids doing that should be ashamed at what a disgrace they are turning the school into. It's disgusting.

It seems like "anon" is being ridiculed for thinking issues in their school aren't important, yet parents are being ridiculed for sending their kids to such a school. Just stop pointing fingers, three more are pointing back. Did you read the article? The way it's stated, seems the child is seriously traumatized by what happened, and didn't plan to do anything but attempt to relieve their paranoia and anxiety. Which, to a young person, makes incidents that are happening, have a very high likelihood of continuing to happen, and are worsening their school experience, a much bigger issue. Listen to these kids, don't dismiss them and write off everything they do as "what is wrong with America" or as their parent's doing, that's how things like this happen in the first place. Just try giving a damn about what they're experiencing and saying, it's not that hard if you open your eyes and shut the hell up.

Wow krystal. Very well written. I pulled our daughter out of that school after one year. She went from a's and b's to d's and f's. Got into fights and the school itself changed . Shes at ph middle now and back on the honor roll. I seriously hate what that school does to kids.

Okay listen up all u people. I new noah. He was in one of my periods. He's not a bad kid u might thing he might be disturbed or something but he's not. It was one misake its not like it rly effected you. I mean rly people come on he's only 13 and he spend a night in jail! He didn't think it wld do anything people are all responding differnt to it. I understand it was wrong and horrible but kids make mistakes. Image wat he is going through now. I 100% garenteed he will never do anything bad like that again after being a 13 year old and going to jail for a night. Like he doesn't feel horrible already about wat u haters are writing. I bet I can find something on you and say u sld be punished. Kids make mistakes and this mistake he made will haunt him forever. Think about this and wat he's probably going through he's a good kid and watch wat u post .
