Putting off getting that headlight fixed or your driver’s license renewed?

You might want to rethink that strategy.

According to FHP spokesman Sgt. Steve Gaskins, the checkpoints will take place throughout Hillsborough County and include a number of roads in the Westchase area.

“Recognizing the danger presented to the public by defective vehicle equipment, troopers will concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated with defects such as bad brakes, worn tires and defective lighting equipment,” Gaskins wrote in a media release. “In addition, attention will be directed to drivers who would violate the driver license laws of Florida.”

Gaskins did not release a timetable for the checkpoints in Westchase.

The list of checkpoints includes “possible locations (where) checkpoints may be conducted,” he said. “Hours may vary.”

Linebaugh Avenue is among the roads that FHP may target this month.
